School's In, Summer's Out

Days are getting shorter, nights are getting cooler.  Crops are beginning to be harvested.  Kids are back in school (where they belong!) and the routine of everyday life settles in just a little bit more.

The Last Fling!

We drove down to Windsor to see the Tall Ships that were docked there.  Andy and his gaggle of kids were there, and he brought Tammy along with him, too.  We were all able to hang around with the in-laws and wander around three of the ships that were moored on the Detroit River.  The old ships are pretty cool with their ropes and pulleys, huge masts, lots of wood and brass.  Not the sort of craftsmanship you would see on the vessels floating around the Great Lakes on a regular basis.  Well, except maybe for some of the luxury yachts and such.

On that same weekend we spent some time around Great Grandma's cottage on Lake Erie.

Anyhow, here are a few pictures from that tour...

This was not one of the Tall Ships, just climbers near Great Grandma's cottage

Nice tattoo.  That's hot!

I'm showing Elton (Ashton, Arson... whatever his name is) how to steal food from little kids

We also managed to get out to a local lake for a bit of fishing.  I have evidence that I was successful.  Andy said he caught a really, really big pike.  Strangely, there are no pictures to back up this claim.  I have my doubts...

My evidence...  Go fish!

School Is In!

We now have three cookie-smashers in school!  Half-Pint is in JK now, LP in Grade 4 and Brother KP is in Grade 1.  It's hard to believe we final got rid of all three of them!  Two of the boys were looking forward to it.  For the other, September loomed like a great dark cloud of depression and torture.  That being said, he still doesn't like school very much!

I was able to see them all at lunch time after the first morning of classes.  There was excitement in the two younger boys and a solemn resignation to his fate by the older.  Christine is wondering what she is going to do without a short and noisy 'someone'  keeping her occupied.  I'm wondering what she's going to do!  She will be BUSY, I know.

Selling veggies from the garden on the street corner

I'm not sure about the whole 'topless grocer' marketing scheme they have going on.  They sold a bunch of stuff so maybe they are on to something.

Here are a couple of pictures of a bird from a little zoo.  I'm jealous of his hairdo!

Oh, one more thing...

Jump seats are not for grown adults.
